SIROCCO is available at Cactus Records and Hastings in Bozeman or contact Jim on this website. Produced by Randy Tico, SIROCCO was recorded in January 2005 in Santa Barbara, California. Jim's music and songs are a reflection of the beautiful world, which he lives in. They're like the mirror of his heart." –Kostas

"Songs, like birds, have wings. I have watched them fly to the delight of those he plays for. I'm proud to be his friend." --Townes VanZandt

"Once in a while a new performer comes along that just seems to out-shine the competition. That time has happened again when I heard 'Spend My Whole Life with You' by Jim Averitt." -- DJ Paulie, WSAM Radio, West Hartford, Connecticut

"Hopeful music with a joyful spontaneity." -- Rob Kohler, Musician and Host of Live Wire Radio, KGLT Bozeman, MT

"Jim Averitt's first CD, New Day, released in 1994 was an environmentally themed collection that raised funds for the National Audubon Society. Featuring original Santana drummer Michael Shrieve, it hinted at the musicians who hang out with the guitarist.

Averitt has jammed with many artists of Shrieve's caliber along the way - Kenny Loggins, Dave Mason, Van Morrrison and Steve Winwood, etc. - leading to his inclusion on a compilation CD to raise funds for music therapy (Star Jasmine). His CD, Mostly Live, includes vocals and a co-writing credit on one track by Jane Fonda.
How did he get Jane Fonda on there? Fans of his songs "Driving the Boss's Car" or "Ranch Hand Blues" may have already figured out that Averitt is an employee on Ted Turner's ranch.

Jim Averitt's forth CD, Sirocco, is arguably his best collection yet. The combination of Averitt's songwriting and world-class bassist Randy Tico's production yields a sound somewhere between James Taylor and the Little River Band. "Fine Sounding Samba" and the title track really showcase high-caliber musicianship.
The musicians backing him this time around may not be household names, but they are major players. Randy Tico has appeared as a guest artists/teacher at the Bozeman Bass Bash. Guitarist Jeff Pevar is is an accomplished session player who has recorded and toured with the likes of Jackson Browne, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, James Taylor and now, Jim Averitt. Percussionist Kevin Winard was playing drums with the Captain and Tennille at age 20.

While Averitt may rub elbows with the rich and famous, he's just a regular guy around his hometown Bozeman. That's where you can find copies of his CDs at Cactus Records and Hastings." - State of the Arts, About Music, May/June 2005

Thanks so much to my old friend Randy Tico for putting such a cool band together and such great Bass playing. To Tom Lackner for letting us into his 6eautiful studio and the killer drumming, Jeff Pevar - you are the man for your lyrical guitar playing and ideas and for showing us your funny DVD (when the electricity went out), Kevin Winard for your fun percussion, Mitchell Yoshida for your wonderful£ keyboards, Lois Mahalia for singing so beautiful and soulful, Gabriel Lackner for your great help and encouragement, Steve Graham for letting me stay in your apartment for the week and singing on “For Me”. A special thanks to Sam, Karen, John Averitt, Hank Cook, Mary Conners, Mom for the pimento cheese sandwiches and chocolate for the studio. Jonathan Mc'Euen for trying to make the session, Vennis & Chris Derham thanks for taking me on the sail trip and taking the beautiful sunset photo from the bow of the Sirocco, which inspired the song.
