Scott Novich AKA Great Scott is a new find for us at Muti Music, having initially been turned on to his productions by ‘Undecided’ , we loved some of Scots glitched out chill productions and then were truly surprised when he started delivering some of the freshest uptempo breakbeat we’ve heard. Utilizing ‘Asian Beat’ flavours, driving basslines and strong funk influences Scott has managed to stand out from the crowd. The recent airplay on BBC radio confirmed that we were not alone in thinking so.
The host of “MK Ultra,” on KTRU in Houston, TX has been seeing weekly support on the Bobby Friction show on BBC radio and also recently had a collaboration project with well known breaks producer “Undecided” signed to UK breaks label Mechanoise.
Strongly inspired by the sounds of old-school big beat and breaks, including the likes of Fluke, The Prodigy, and Rabbit In The Moon, Scott is constantly attempting to fuse the sounds of the old with that of the new, while trying to achieve a delicate balance between producing music that’s meant to make people move, with that which inflicts various emotions and imagery.
Scott has broken into the international music scene before with a brief stint working and gigging in Beijing, China. The ‘Bollygraph Test EP’ out now on Muti Music looks to be pushing that international journey even further with it’s Asian beat flavour and also for the fact that it features the Romanian rising star of breakbeat, Mesmer who is known for his multiple releases on ‘Bombtraxx’, ‘Bijoubeats’, ‘Sango Music’and ‘Sound Of Habib’ who will be releasing his forthcoming album.
