The official ambassadors of cosmopolitan cool, The Pinker Tones, bring us the sound of one of the world’s hippest cities – Barcelona. Renowned for its style and eclecticism, the city has spawned a music culture which absorbs an abundance of influences and eras and turns them into something relevant, fresh and fun. Top of the playlist at the trendiest pop venues Razzmatazz and Mond Club, The Pinker Tones epitomize this scene, throwing everything they find (bar the kitchen sink) into the mix, yet somehow making it into a product which undeniably works. With no real intention of striving for cool status, The Pinker Tones somehow achieve it – in bucket loads!
Formed in 2001 through a series of chance meetings, the Pinker Tones are Professor Manso and Mr Furia, two semi-legendary figures on the Barcelona music scene who are the driving forces behind a renaissance in the city’s musical culture. Writers, remixers, producers, DJs and all round good guys, The Professor and Mr Furia are plotting world domination of the charts from their roof top studio (Pinker Land) in the heart of the city.
Their debut single, “Mais Pourquoi”, recently hit number one in the Spanish dance floor chart, attracting reviews comparing it favourably with Quincy Jones, Euro-disco, Air, Lemon Jelly and somewhat bizarrely “italo sixties cocktail lounge music for beat afficiandos”.
Their debut album The BCN Connection is hitting the radio stations and the shops around the world right now, with radio play and releases from Japan to the UK, Brazil to Australia.
